Alien: Earth Premiere Date & Plot Details Unveiled

Author : Anthony Oct 21,2025

Alien: Earth launches its first two episodes on August 12 at 8pm ET on Hulu, with global premieres on FX and Disney+ at 8pm PT/ET. The eight-episode season continues with new installments every Tuesday.

Noah Hawley's Alien: Earth unfolds in 2120 - decades after Prometheus yet two years before the original Alien's Nostromo incident. The story follows the crash landing of the research vessel USCSS Maginot, where protagonist Wendy (Sydney Chandler) and a squad of tactical soldiers uncover a terrifying discovery that brings them face-to-face with Earth's ultimate threat.

For timeline reference, the soon-to-release Alien: Romulus bridges the gap between Alien and Aliens.

The series presents a future Earth controlled by five megacorps: Weyland-Yutani (the franchise's perennial antagonist), Prodigy, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs and synthetics live alongside humans until Prodigy's CEO develops hybrids - robotic humanoids housing human consciousness. Wendy emerges as the first hybrid prototype, continuing the franchise's exploration of mortality and immortality.

Notably, after Weyland-Yutani's spacecraft collides with Prodigy City, Wendy and her fellow hybrids encounter extraterrestrial horrors "more terrifying than imagined" - hinting at new creatures beyond the classic Xenomorph, with rumors suggesting five distinct species.

Official synopsis:

In 2120, Earth's five ruling corporations - Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold - govern a world where humans coexist with cyborgs and synthetics. When Prodigy's visionary CEO pioneers hybrid technology (humanoid robots with human consciousness), prototype "Wendy" represents a breakthrough in humanity's immortal ambitions. After a Weyland-Yutani vessel crashes into Prodigy City, Wendy and fellow hybrids confront unimaginable terrors from beyond.

Showrunner Noah Hawley revealed in January 2023 why Alien: Earth diverges from Prometheus' backstory, preferring the original films' retro-futurism. While consulting with Ridley Scott about franchise connections, Hawley ultimately chose to abandon the bioweapon narrative for more classic Alien mythology.

The franchise continues expanding with Alien: Romulus 2 in development and crossover potential via Predator: Badlands, signaling renewed vigor for the Alien universe.
