Ubisoft has outlined its comprehensive plans for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, promising to enhance the gaming experience with features like new game+, additional difficulty settings, extra story content, and more.

In a concise yet informative four-and-a-half-minute roadmap update video released today, Ubisoft detailed its schedule for 2025, particularly highlighting the months of May and June. The video showcases the team's strategy to keep players engaged with a series of free updates throughout the year.

The rollout kicks off early in May with the first free story add-on, The Works of Luis Frois, accompanied by a Codex update and quality-of-life improvements. May will also see significant enhancements to parkour and a photo mode update. Ubisoft emphasizes that these updates are a direct result of community feedback, demonstrating their commitment to listening to players and refining Assassin’s Creed Shadows accordingly.

Daniel St. Germain, the community developer, stated in the video, “Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that’s not stopping now that Shadows is released. Regular title updates are coming, each with impactful additions – and changes – based on your feedback and requests, with some bug fixes to continue refining the experience across all platforms.”

June will bring another free story drop, along with more challenging difficulty settings, gameplay immersion options, an open-world alarm system, and the ability to toggle headgear visibility during cutscenes. These additions are highly anticipated by the player base, and Ubisoft has promised more features like new game+ support, additional story drops, special collaborations, and more before the end of the year.

The highlight of the post-launch roadmap is the Claws of Awaji DLC expansion, set to release later in the year. This expansion will introduce new content, including the Bo staff weapon and a new region for Naoe and Yasuke to explore, spanning a 10-hour journey. While pricing details are yet to be disclosed, the expansion will be free for those who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows before its launch last month.

Play*Assassin’s Creed Shadows* launched on March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, bringing the iconic stealth series to Feudal Japan. Its successful debut has earned it a spot on our list of the best games of 2025 so far and made it the best-selling game of last month.
