Treyarch Unveils "The Tomb," a New Map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, in 115 Day Celebration
Treyarch is celebrating 115 Day with a flurry of announcements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, including the highly anticipated reveal of a new map: The Tomb. This annual January 15th event treats Call of Duty fans to a comprehensive blog detailing upcoming zombie-themed surprises.
The centerpiece of today's announcements is The Tomb, a new desert-themed Zombies map launching with Season 2 on January 28th. This marks another significant addition to the Zombies universe, following Season 1's Citadelle des Morts, and arrives in less than two weeks.
Treyarch's narrative summary reveals that after the harrowing events of Citadelle des Morts, Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya follow Gabriel Krafft's final instructions to an excavation site to secure the Sentinel Artifact. These catacombs, built upon ancient burial grounds dating back to 2500 B.C.E., remained undisturbed for centuries until the early 1900s, hinting at a deeper mystery than initially imagined.
While the team describes The Tomb as a mysterious location connected to a British archaeologist, Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe, further details regarding its connection to the broader Zombies storyline remain scarce.
Gameplay-wise, The Tomb promises a similar experience to Liberty Falls, the smaller, town-based map from Black Ops 6's October launch. Treyarch emphasizes "tighter play spaces with a focus on replayability," encouraging players to uncover numerous hidden Easter eggs.
Season 2 also introduces a reimagined Wonder Weapon ("inspired by our past") and the return of a classic SMG, though specifics are yet to be revealed. A range of quality-of-life improvements are also planned, including community-requested features such as tracking up to 10 Calling Card and 10 Camo challenges across both Zombies and Multiplayer modes. A co-op pause option for Zombies, allowing the party leader to pause mid-game, is also confirmed. Separate HUD presets for Zombies and Multiplayer, along with the ability to rejoin Zombies matches with your loadout after being disconnected, are additional enhancements.

To celebrate 115 Day, Black Ops 6 players can enjoy double GobbleGum earn rates and double player, weapon, and battle pass XP until 10 AM PT on January 21st. Treyarch also shared impressive statistics for the story-driven Directed Mode, revealing players have logged over 480 million hours in Black Ops 6 Zombies. The team highlighted Directed Mode's success in boosting the Zombies community, more than doubling the average Main Quest completion rate since its launch.
The upcoming release of The Tomb will also be of particular interest to fans given Activision's recent admission of recasting some beloved Zombies characters due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
