Call of Duty: Warzone Experiencing Lobby Crashing Issue

Summary

  • Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens.
  • This has resulted in unfair in-game penalties for some players.
  • Developers are actively working on a permanent solution.

Call of Duty: Warzone players experiencing frustrating lobby crashes can breathe a sigh of relief. Reports of games freezing or crashing during loading screens, leading to undeserved penalties, prompted swift action. While a complete fix is still in development, Warzone implemented a temporary measure to prevent penalties for players affected by these issues.

2024 was a significant year for the Call of Duty franchise, yet Raven Software faced numerous challenges. A temporary matchmaking outage followed an accidental update in late December, and ongoing issues with cheating and bugs plagued the game. This latest loading screen crash issue further complicated the start of 2025.

Warzone players reported widespread freezing and crashing during loading screens, prompting Raven Software to launch an investigation on January 6th. Although the glitch remains unresolved on their Trello bug tracker, a crucial update was implemented. On January 9th, they announced a temporary suspension of Skill Rating penalties and timeouts for players disconnecting before joining Ranked matches. This addressed player outrage over unfair suspensions caused by the bug.

Call of Duty: Warzone Developers Address Lobby Crash Issue

Previously, players experiencing crashes faced the loss of hard-earned Skill Rating points and temporary match bans. Ironically, this penalty system, requested by players years ago, is now contributing to the problem. Raven Software's temporary fix addresses this paradox: disconnections before a Ranked match begins will no longer result in penalties, while mid-match disconnections will retain penalties.

While a permanent fix remains pending, the temporary penalty suspension alleviates immediate concerns. However, the persistent bugs, even after a major January 2025 update, and any disruption to Ranked play, remain sources of frustration for the community. The Call of Duty: Warzone team is actively working to resolve these issues, and players eagerly await a complete solution.
