Street Fighter 6 welcomes a new fighter, reigniting player interest. The latest addition is Mai Shiranui, a popular character from the Fatal Fury franchise.
Capcom's Street Fighter 6 continues its success, boasting 4.4 million copies sold by December 31, 2024. While some fans felt content updates were lacking, the arrival of Mai Shiranui has significantly boosted the game's popularity.
Mai Shiranui, the third character in the game's second season pass, has had a remarkable impact. On her release day, Steam's peak concurrent player count surged past 63,000, a significant increase from the previous peak of 24-27,000 and the best since May 2024.
Access to Mai is granted through the Battle Pass. World Tour mode allows players to build relationships with Mai, learn her moves, and subsequently test them in Battle Hub. A second costume, inspired by her appearance in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, has also been added.
A temporary addition to Battle Hub is Professor Woshige, a renowned fighting game developer. Players can experience his unique gameplay until March 10th. The update also includes new Master League ranks and rewards.
Capcom showcased Mai's fighting style in a dedicated trailer.
