Daredevil's highly anticipated return is on the horizon, and the creative team is already brainstorming future possibilities, including a potential Defenders reunion.
In a recent EW profile, Brad Winderbaum, head of streaming and TV at Marvel Studios, revealed the team's keen interest in reuniting the street-level heroes of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist—the Defenders.
While nothing is confirmed, Winderbaum stated, "The potential to work within that established universe is incredibly exciting... Unlike comic books, where limitations are minimal, we have practical constraints like actor availability, scheduling, and the immense scale of production required to build a cinematic universe, especially for television."
He continued, "However, considering all these factors, the creative possibilities are truly thrilling, and it's something we're actively exploring."
Daredevil: Born Again will directly continue the Netflix Daredevil storyline. Netflix previously hosted a smaller-scale Marvel universe featuring Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. Winderbaum's comments suggest that Daredevil: Born Again could serve as a springboard to reintroduce these characters into the MCU via Disney+, under Disney's creative direction. The inclusion of Jon Bernthal's Punisher further solidifies the transition of Netflix characters.
The upcoming Daredevil: Born Again, premiering March 4th, will be crucial in determining how these characters integrate into the broader MCU narrative. Until then, speculation remains.
