Netflix's highly anticipated animated Witcher film arrives February 11, 2025. Dive into the details below!
The Witcher: A New Animated Adventure
A Coastal Conflict on the Continent
Netflix Tudum, the streaming giant's official news source, confirms the February 11, 2025 release date for The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep. This animated spin-off adapts Andrzej Sapkowski's short story, "A Little Sacrifice," from Sword of Destiny.
The film unfolds in a coastal village, where a centuries-long conflict between humans and merfolk forces a Continent kingdom to enlist Geralt's services. This time, Geralt faces a unique challenge, trading familiar monsters like Basilisks and Cockatrices for a battle against the mythical merpeople.
Returning to voice Geralt is Doug Cockle. Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra reprise their roles as Jaskier and Yennefer, respectively. Christina Wren (Will Trent) joins the cast as the new character, Essi Daven.
Sapkowski acts as a creative consultant, while Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin (writers for the live-action series) pen the screenplay. Kang Hei Chul, storyboard artist for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, directs the film.
A Story Set Within Season 1 of the Live-Action Series
The animated film seamlessly fits into the timeline of the live-action series, specifically between episodes 5 and 6 of season 1. Following Geralt and Yennefer's encounter in Rinde after freeing a Djinn, Geralt is tasked with resolving a monstrous threat near the coast.
The film's location is likely situated between Redania and Temeria, given Rinde's proximity. However, based on "A Little Sacrifice," the setting could be Bremervoord City in Temeria, ruled by Duke Agloval. The extent to which the film adheres to the short story remains to be seen.
