Nintendo has officially announced the pre-order date and pricing details for its upcoming Switch 2 console and accessories. While the console’s price remains unchanged, accessory pricing has seen broad increases—changes that may impact early adopter plans for pre-orders.
The base Nintendo Switch 2 model remains priced at $449.99, while the Mario Kart World bundle stays at $499.99. Mario Kart World continues to be sold separately for $79.99, and Donkey Kong Bananza is priced at $69.99.
Accessories, however, have seen price increases across nearly all items. Below is a detailed breakdown:
Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller - $84.99
Joy-Con 2 Pair - $94.99
Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip - $39.99
Joy-Con 2 Strap - $13.99
Joy-Con 2 Wheel Set - $24.99
Nintendo Switch 2 Camera - $54.99
Nintendo Switch 2 Dock Set - $119.99
Nintendo Switch 2 Carrying Case & Screen Protector - $39.99
Nintendo Switch 2 All-In-One Carrying Case - $84.99
Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter - $34.99
In its official announcement, Nintendo confirmed that Switch 2 accessory prices have been adjusted from the figures shared on April 2, citing changes in market conditions. For higher-cost items such as the Joy-Con 2 pair, Pro Controller, and camera, a $5 increase has been applied consistently. Meanwhile, the Dock Set saw a $10 jump—rising from $109.99 to $119.99.
As fans have noted, purchasing an extra pair of Joy-Con controllers has now become a significant expense. At just $5 away from a triple-digit price tag, many prospective Switch 2 buyers are surprised by the cost.
Amid conversations about pricing, many have pointed out that numerous original Switch accessories remain compatible with the Switch 2. Nintendo’s support site confirms that several legacy accessories—including original Joy-Con controllers and the Switch Pro Controller—can be paired with the new console. While the original Joy-Cons cannot be attached directly, they can connect wirelessly. Super Nintendo and N64 controller support will also carry over with compatible titles.

Many users are sharing information about Switch 1 accessory compatibility or discussing the option of using third-party controllers. While these alternatives may not offer full native functionality—such as C-button support or console wake features—the potential savings may appeal to budget-conscious buyers.
Nintendo also indicated that further price adjustments could occur depending on market conditions. However, the knowledge that existing Pro Controllers can still be used with the Switch 2 offers some reassurance to those concerned about the increased accessory prices.
Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 begin on April 24, 2025.
