Nintendo has issued an expected warning to U.S. fans about potential delays in receiving the Switch 2 on launch day, following earlier concerns about meeting Japanese demand.
The company updated its website to inform registered My Nintendo Store customers that June 5 delivery isn't guaranteed. Invitation emails might arrive after the console's release, though Nintendo promises to confirm shipping dates after purchase.
"We appreciate everyone who registered interest in our My Nintendo Store," Nintendo stated. "The overwhelming demand for Switch 2 means we can't guarantee June 5 deliveries, and invites might come after launch. We'll provide confirmed shipping dates upon purchase."
Nintendo surprisingly suggested third-party retailers might offer better launch-date availability - an alarming statement given Switch 2 pre-orders already sold out overnight. Their statement included GameStop links (currently showing sold out) while advising registered users need take no further action.

The April 24 pre-order chaos combined with this warning suggests severe Switch 2 shortages around launch. Nintendo previously warned Japanese customers about limited availability, with 2.2 million pre-order requests overwhelming their direct sales capacity.
President Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed the Japanese demand "far exceeded expectations and available launch stock." U.S. customers face similar constraints, with limited My Nintendo Store invitations beginning May 8, distributed periodically based on priority criteria.
Priority depends on Switch Online membership history (minimum 12 months), purchase verification, gameplay data sharing, and 50+ logged hours. Selected registrants receive 72-hour purchase windows when invited.
Nintendo maintains its $449.99 base price and June 5 launch date, though accessory prices increased due to tariffs. The company delayed original April 9 pre-orders to assess market conditions, ultimately opening them April 24.
