The developers behind the PvPvE action game Dungeonborne, inspired by the well-known Dark and Darker, have officially announced the cessation of support for the game and the impending closure of its servers. Launched with much anticipation, the project unfortunately did not manage to sustain its player base, primarily due to insufficient player engagement and the absence of substantial updates.
Although Dungeonborne's page remains available on Steam, it has been removed from the platform's search results and can only be accessed through a direct link. While the developers have not publicly detailed the reasons behind the shutdown, it's evident that the game's critically low player numbers were a significant factor. Since the end of 2024, Dungeonborne struggled to maintain more than 200 concurrent players, with the count dwindling to a mere 10-15 in recent days.
The final shutdown of Dungeonborne's servers is scheduled for May 28, marking the end of the game's journey. Despite its initial promise and appeal to fans of the genre, Dungeonborne will now fade into memory without having reached its full potential.
