Niantic has recently unveiled the exciting Wayfarer Challenge event for Pokémon Go players in Chile and India, offering a unique opportunity to influence their local game environment while earning exclusive in-game rewards. This event encourages trainers to engage with the Niantic Wayfarer platform to review and approve Wayspot nominations, which can transform real-world locations like landmarks, sculptures, and street art into new PokéStops and Gyms within the game.
The Wayfarer Challenge is scheduled to take place from March 7th to 9th in Chile, and from March 10th to 12th in India. During this period, participants can contribute to the community's efforts to reach milestone goals. Achieving 5,000 resolved nominations will unlock rewards for all involved, including 20 Ultra Balls, a Star Piece, an Incense, and a Poffin. If the community manages to approve 10,000 nominations, the rewards escalate to 25 Ultra Balls, two Star Pieces, two Incense, two Poffins, and a Lucky Egg.
To participate, trainers must be at least level 37 in Pokémon Go and possess a Niantic Wayfarer account. New users will need to complete the Wayfarer Orientation before they can start reviewing nominations. Additionally, eligibility for rewards requires participants to have recently played in Chile or India, or have set their Wayfarer Hometown or Bonus Location to one of these countries. To qualify for the rewards, participants must review at least 50 nominations, and at least one of the community milestones must be achieved.
Running concurrently with the Wayfarer Challenge, the PokéStop Challenge event will occur from March 9th to 12th, exclusively in Chile and India. This event promises enhanced gameplay with 3x XP for first-time visits to PokéStops, 3x Stardust from opening Gifts, and increased encounters with Kecleon. Participants can also look forward to Event Field Research offering encounters with Eevee, and Timed Research that provides opportunities to catch other Pokémon.
