Initially released in 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Resident Evil 6 received a remastered edition in 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This new listing strongly suggests an upcoming release for both Xbox Series X|S and likely PlayStation 5, though official confirmation is pending.

The key difference between this potential new version and the previous remaster appears to be in the game's genre description. While earlier versions were categorized as "third-person shooters," the ESRB now lists it as a "survival horror" title. Further details regarding enhancements and changes are expected with an official announcement.

Beyond this remaster, anticipation is high for Resident Evil 9, rumored to be set four years after the events of Resident Evil Village.
