A former employee of Respawn Entertainment recently shared on LinkedIn that the studio has halted the development of a new game this week. The project, which had been in development for several years, was abruptly stopped without any public explanation regarding the reasons behind this decision.
Last year, industry insider Jeff Grubb reported that this project was not a direct sequel to the Titanfall series, clarifying that it was not Titanfall 3. Respawn had assembled an "experimental team" specifically for this project, bringing on board experts in multiplayer shooter development.
This isn't the first time Respawn has had to cancel a project. Previously, they shut down an arcade shooter codenamed Titanfall Legends last year.
The Titanfall series, renowned for its thrilling combination of action and mech piloting, allows players to engage in combat either as agile pilots or as formidable Titans. Since its debut in 2014, the series has garnered a dedicated following due to its innovative gameplay, which features parkour and fast-paced team battles.
Currently, Respawn's focus has shifted to other projects within their portfolio. They are actively working on the third installment of the Star Wars Jedi series and collaborating with Bit Reactor on a new strategy game set in the Star Wars universe.
