The boys are back in town—and by the boys, we're talking about Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park has officially announced the eagerly awaited Season 27, where it seems our favorite Colorado crew is tackling the current state of affairs, albeit in their unique, barely-coping style.
The beloved animated series cleverly unveiled a new trailer for the upcoming season, initially misleading viewers into believing it was a sneak peek at a gripping new drama. The trailer's intense editing and ominous music set the stage... until Randy, Stan’s dad, and his sister Shelley appear, disrupting the tension. Randy asks Shelley if she’s been taking drugs, suggesting, "Because I think it could really help you," as they sit on her bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background.
South Park Season 27 is set to premiere on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025. After the initial gag, the trailer shifts back to high-octane action, hinting at several significant and timely plot points. Expect to see major plane crashes, the toppling of the Statue of Liberty, a cameo by P. Diddy, and what appears to be yet another war with Canada. Longtime fans, or those familiar with the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, might have seen this last one coming.
The teaser confirms that the new season will launch on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. In the interim, the show has released three specials: 2023's South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024's South Park: The End of Obesity.
South Park, which debuted on Comedy Central in 1997 to immediate acclaim, celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022. As we approach Season 27, fans can look forward to more of the sharp, satirical humor that has defined the series for nearly three decades.
