Squid Game: Unleashed is celebrating Season Two with a wave of new content! Get ready for new characters, a fresh map, and exciting challenges. Plus, exclusive rewards await those who watch the new episodes!
Netflix's surprise holiday release of Squid Game: Unleashed, a free-to-play battle royale game based on the hit Korean drama, was a bold move. Now, with the Season Two update, they're cleverly incentivizing both subscribers and non-subscribers alike.
What's in store for existing players? Starting January 3rd, a new map inspired by the Season Two mini-game "Mingle" will launch. Playable avatars Geum-Ja, Yong-Sik, and rapper Thanos will also debut throughout January.
Geum-Ja and Thanos each have special in-game events on January 3rd and 9th, respectively, to unlock them. And for those watching the show, additional rewards are up for grabs! Watching episodes of Squid Game Season Two earns you in-game Cash and Wild Tokens. Watching seven episodes unlocks the exclusive Binni Binge-Watcher outfit!
Here's the January content calendar for Squid Game: Unleashed:
- January 3rd: New Mingle map and Geum-Ja character released. The Dalgona Mash Up Collection Event begins (until January 9th), challenging players to complete Mingle mini-games and collect Dalgona tins.
- January 9th: Thanos arrives with his own recruitment event, the Thanos’ Red Light Challenge (until January 14th). Eliminate players with knives to earn this character.
- January 16th: Yong-Sik joins the game as the final new character in this update.
Squid Game: Unleashed could be a game-changer for Netflix's gaming ambitions. The free-to-play model was a risk, but rewarding subscribers while promoting the show itself is a shrewd strategy that could significantly benefit both the game and the series.
