Total War Mobile Update Introduces Hotseat Multiplayer & Tactical Enhancements
Feral Interactive has rolled out a significant update for Total War: Medieval II on iOS and Android, delivering two long-awaited improvements. The Hotseats & Halberds update brings both a flexible multiplayer Hotseat Mode and crucial late-game combat adjustments to the mobile strategy classic.
Asynchronous Multiplayer Comes to Mobile
- Hotseat Mode enables shared-device gameplay with turn-based sessions
- Offers standard competitive, full cooperative, and battle royale variants
- Battle royale features auto-elimination and scoring across multiple categories
Originally featured in the PC version's Kingdoms expansion, Hotseat Mode now arrives on mobile with expanded functionality. Players can enjoy this asynchronous multiplayer experience in both the Grand Campaign and Kingdoms scenarios, with new quality-of-life improvements for faster pacing.
Campaign Acceleration Features
The update includes optional settings to streamline gameplay, featuring increased diplomat movement range, reduced construction costs and times, plus earlier historical event triggers. These adjustments create more dynamic multiplayer sessions while maintaining strategic depth.
Late-Game Combat Rebalancing
A comprehensive overhaul targets previously underpowered late-era units, with particular attention to polearm formations. The new Cohesion mechanic allows pike units to maintain defensive formations more effectively during prolonged engagements.
Key Unit Changes:
- Zweihanders and Daneaxe warriors gain Cohesion Disruption for frontline breaking
- Halberdiers now boast superior stats and cavalry resistance
- Gunpowder units fire more efficiently after AI refinements
