Ubisoft Insists Assassin's Creed Shadows Preorders are 'Tracking Solidly,' In Line With Odyssey

Author : Penelope Feb 25,2025

Ubisoft confidently reports strong preorder numbers for Assassin's Creed Shadows despite setbacks. Their latest financial report indicates preorders are comparable to those of Assassin's Creed Odyssey, a franchise high-water mark.

CEO Yves Guillemot emphasizes the company's dedication to the March 20th launch, highlighting positive early previews praising the narrative, immersive experience, and dual protagonist gameplay. He commends the development team's efforts in creating what he calls the franchise's most ambitious installment.

Originally slated for November, then February 14th, the game's release was pushed to March 20th. The game's success is crucial for Ubisoft, following recent underperforming titles and investor concerns. It marks the long-awaited Japan-set entry and the first full Assassin's Creed title since 2020.

The promotional period has faced challenges, including apologies for historical inaccuracies in the game's depiction of Japan and unauthorized use of a historical group's flag. Further controversy arose from the removal of a "insensitive" collectible statue by PureArts. These issues, coupled with delays, have led to growing fan impatience.
