Lost Soul Aside's PC Release to Forgo Controversial PSN Linking
Lost Soul Aside, the highly anticipated Sony-published action RPG, will reportedly launch on PC in 2025 without the previously mandated PlayStation Network (PSN) account linking requirement. This significant change expands the game's potential market considerably, as PSN support is unavailable in over 100 countries.
Developed by UltiZeroGames and incubated through PlayStation's China Hero Project, Lost Soul Aside has been in development for nearly nine years. The Devil May Cry-inspired title, focusing on dynamic combat, will release on both PS5 and PC. Sony's initial decision to enforce PSN linking for its PC ports last year met with significant player backlash.
The removal of the PSN requirement for Lost Soul Aside's PC version was seemingly confirmed after its Steam page went live. While initially listed as requiring a PSN account, the requirement was quickly removed, as evidenced by SteamDB update history. This marks the second time Sony has reversed its PSN linking policy for a PC game, following a similar reversal for Helldivers 2.
This decision is a welcome change for PC gamers in unsupported regions. It also suggests a potential shift in Sony's approach to PC releases. The poor PC performance of some PSN-linked PlayStation titles, such as God of War Ragnarok, which saw significantly fewer players than its predecessor, may have influenced this decision. While the exact reasons remain unconfirmed, the move suggests a prioritization of broader player reach and sales potential for Lost Soul Aside.
