The first public test server for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now live, offering players an early glimpse into the much-anticipated Update 7.0 and its patch notes. In a community post, publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive shared preliminary patch notes for the PTS version, which cover most of the features set to be included in the 7.0 update. However, they cautioned that the final version of the patch notes may differ as the development team continues to refine and fix bugs.
This update is exclusively available to PC players on the PTS and not accessible on consoles. Update 7.0 brings a wealth of new content and improvements. Players can look forward to a new PvE mission called Exfiltration, a new secondary weapon, the Inferno Pistol, available for the Vanguard, Sniper, and Heavy classes, as well as prestige ranks in PvE and private PvP lobbies. Additionally, the update introduces exciting customization options, including new colors such as Volupus Pink and Thousand Sons Blue, along with Bulwark cloth and hands recoloring. PvP customization rewards have also been increased by 50%. Exclusive skins for the Tactical and Vanguard classes, such as the Imperial Fists Champion and Space Wolves Champion, respectively, add even more variety to the game.
Significant balance changes accompany the update, including an extended weapon arsenal for PvE, which now offers all classes a broader choice of weapons. Notably, the Assault class can now use the Power Sword without mods. Players are encouraged to review the detailed patch notes for comprehensive insights into the weapon tweaks.
A notable gameplay improvement in the Inferno Operation addresses griefing issues. Now, if a player reaches the assembly area in the final stage of the level, other players will be automatically teleported there after a short delay, ensuring smoother gameplay and preventing progress blockages.
Last month, the developers teased an upcoming Horde mode and addressed community concerns about 'FOMO' in live service events. Earlier in the year, Saber Interactive also outlined future content plans to address player frustrations over the lack of updates.
