WoW's Plunderstorm Event Delayed Due to Unexpected Issues
The highly anticipated return of World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm event has been postponed due to unforeseen technical difficulties. While initially slated for a January 14th, 2025 launch, Blizzard has announced a delay with no new estimated release time provided.
Plunderstorm, a popular pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024, was set to return with both original and new rewards. However, unexpected issues arose during the planned server maintenance, forcing an extension and ultimately delaying the event's launch. Blizzard aims to launch Plunderstorm before the end of January 14th, but players should anticipate further delays.
Plunderstorm Launch Timeline:
- Before the end of January 14th, 2025 (pending resolution of unforeseen issues)
In the meantime, World of Warcraft's regular servers are operational. Players can engage in other activities, such as completing Siren Isle weeklies, participating in the Turbulent Timeways event, or pursuing other content within the game.
The second iteration of Plunderstorm was expected to introduce new features, including a Plunderstore and an in-game event interface. These additions may be contributing to the current technical challenges.
Despite the delay, the Plunderstorm Twitch Drops campaign remains active. Viewers can earn the Coward's Azure Target back transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft Twitch stream before February 4th at 10 AM PST. This reward is obtainable regardless of whether the streamer is playing Plunderstorm.
