Unleash your creativity with ArtClash, the innovative drawing app designed to inspire daily practice in sketching, painting, and cartooning. Unlike Sketchbook, Photoshop, Procreate, or Infinite Painter, ArtClash offers a unique approach to art creation, focusing on community engagement and fun challenges.
As a work-in-progress and currently in early access, ArtClash invites you to dive into its first completed game while eagerly anticipating more to come. Whether you choose to free draw or tackle specific topics with optional constraints like time limits, color restrictions, or canvas size, you earn points when others correctly guess your creations. It's a delightful blend of art and social interaction, perfect for daily practice.
This passion project, crafted by a single developer for personal use with his wife, aims to encourage not just them but a wider community of artists to hone their skills regularly.
Current Features:
- Paint: Enjoy the freedom to sketch, paint, and blend your artworks.
- Import Images: Use them as references or paint directly over them to enhance your creativity.
- Topics and Constraints: Choose from various topics across six difficulty levels and opt for constraints to earn extra points when others guess your drawings correctly.
- Free Drawing: Unleash your imagination with no limits, and easily share your masterpieces with the community.
- NSFW Flag: Optionally view images marked as NSFW, ensuring a tailored browsing experience.
Current Early Access Issues/Bugs:
- Ugly UI: The user interface, built with Unity, is undergoing a major overhaul to be replaced with XAML for better responsiveness and aesthetics.
- Performance on Large Canvases: To maintain smooth performance on lower-end devices, keep canvases under 1024x1024. The team is exploring other engines to enhance the brush engine's speed.
Upcoming Features:
- New games like "telephone" with drawings.
- Enhanced social features including avatar changes, comments, and the ability to friend and follow other users.
- Improved UI and a faster brush engine to address current issues.
- Introduction of marquee selection and transform tools.
- Expansion of brush options, allowing users to add and share their own custom brushes.
- Enhanced layer system with features like locking transparent pixels and masking.
- A developer communication system for feature requests, bug reports, and community voting on future updates.
- Moderator roles to manage flagged content and ensure community safety.
- User-submitted topics and constraints, moderated for quality and relevance.
- Future expansions into full image editing, animation, scripting, and even game/storyboard prototyping.
While ArtClash is not yet a full-fledged image editing suite due to performance constraints with large textures and a focus on social interaction, it remains a vibrant platform for artists to engage, challenge themselves, and grow their skills through friendly competition and encouragement.
