Choosing Your Path in Citizen Sleeper 2: A Class Guide
Citizen Sleeper 2 kicks off with a crucial decision: selecting your character's class. Operator, Machinist, and Extractor each offer unique strengths and weaknesses, impacting your gameplay significantly. This guide helps you choose the best fit for your preferred playstyle.
Operator
Operators begin with a boost in Interface, foundational levels in Intuit and Engage, and no Engineer skills. Endure is unavailable for leveling. Their special ability allows stress-fueled re-rolls of their lowest dice.
While powerful later, Operators can struggle early on. The Interface skill is valuable, but the re-roll ability isn't always a game-changer. Roleplaying-wise, the Operator is versatile, adaptable to various character concepts.
Machinist
Machinists start with a + in Engineer, base levels in Interface and Intuit, and lack Endure skills. Engage is unlevelable. Their ability trades stress for a +2 bonus to their lowest die, further enhanced as the game progresses, along with stress reduction on positive outcomes.
The Machinist proved highly effective in my playthrough. The ability to mitigate stress and boost dice rolls in crucial situations is invaluable. The starting skills are advantageous given the frequent need for Engineer and Interface checks. This class suits players focused on the game's technical and mechanical aspects.
Extractor
Extractors begin with a + in Endure, base levels in Engineer and Engage, and no Interface. Intuit is unlevelable. Their ability allows stress-fueled +2 bonuses to crew members' lowest dice, further upgradeable.
The Extractor's ability shines in managing contract risks and crew capabilities. The initial Endure bonus is extremely helpful, though the abundance of Endure/Engage crew members later might lessen its impact. This class is ideal for players who prefer a more rugged, crew-focused approach.
This guide offers insights into the strengths and weaknesses of each class to aid your decision in Citizen Sleeper 2.
