The Blood of Dawnwalker recently unveiled more details about its highly anticipated open-world dark fantasy action-RPG during its game reveal event. Dive into the immersive world of Vale Sangora and discover what awaits!
Welcome To Vale Sangora
Follow The Dawnwalker Protagonist, Coen
On January 16th, The Blood of Dawnwalker held its official game reveal event, giving fans a deeper look into the narrative-driven, open-world dark fantasy action-RPG set in the fictional 14th-century Medieval European land of Vale Sangora. Players will embody Coen, the Dawnwalker protagonist, whose existence oscillates between day and night. Narrative director Jakub Szamalek describes Coen as an emotionally vulnerable and honest young man, setting him apart from typical game protagonists.
The trailer introduces us to Coen's confrontation with the antagonist, Brencis, an ancient vampire who has seized control of Vale Sangora. In this crumbling world, Coen must save his family within a tight deadline of 30 days and 30 nights, although the developers have noted that the game's time flow will allow for extensive gameplay.
Coen's abilities showcase his unique vampiric nature, enabling feats like sliding down buildings unharmed and phasing between enemies. He also wields magic, launching magic missiles at foes. Despite these reveals, many fan questions remain unanswered, fueling anticipation for more details.
Following the event, Rebel Wolves took to their official Discord server to address some of these questions through a dedicated FAQ channel. Dawnwalkers, as explained, appear human during the day but transform into vampires at night. However, they are not merely hybrids but something uniquely in-between. The game's magic system is described as less flashy and more focused on the occult, involving rituals, amulets, relics, and summonings rather than traditional fantasy spells.
A Narrative Sandbox Experience With Lots Of People To Meet
Coen, afflicted with silver poisoning, is on a mission to rescue his family from an impending doom. Despite this clear goal, the game promises a "narrative sandbox" experience, offering players significant control over the storyline. With numerous ways to explore the world and its plot, the game will be entirely nonlinear, with the world dynamically changing based on player choices.
To maintain the integrity of this single-player campaign, there will be no multiplayer or co-op modes. However, Coen will have the opportunity to form romantic connections, ensuring he's not alone on his dark journey. Players will encounter a diverse cast of characters, including uriashi, kobolds, and possibly even werewolves.
Rebel Wolves, founded by former CD Projekt Red developers who worked on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, is behind The Blood of Dawnwalker. While no specific release date has been announced, the game is confirmed for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
