Vaults are back in *Fortnite* Chapter 6, Season 2: Lawless — and this time around, they’re tougher to crack than ever. But fear not, because Epic Games has given players a powerful tool for pulling off the perfect heist. Meet Thermite — your new best friend when it comes to blowing through those high-security vault doors. Here's everything you need to know about how to find and use Thermite in *Fortnite* Chapter 6, Season 2.

How to Find Thermite in Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 2

With the arrival of a brand-new season, the loot pool has shifted, making it tricky to track down certain items. Luckily, Thermite is widely available across the map.

You can find Thermite as floor loot, inside regular chests, or by purchasing it with Bars at Black Markets and Outlaw Vending Machines. These vendors can be found in key locations such as Crime City, Seaport City, Lonewolf Lair, and Masked Meadows. Additionally, Thermite may also drop in Go Bags, giving you yet another way to get your hands on this explosive gear.

Once you locate Thermite, simply pick it up to add it to your inventory. However, space is limited in your loadout, so you’ll need to decide whether it’s worth carrying based on your playstyle and current mission objectives. The good news? Thermite serves more than one purpose in Fortnite Battle Royale, making it a versatile addition to your arsenal.

How to Use Thermite in Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 2

The primary function of Thermite is to help break open vaults scattered across the map. Once placed on the front of a vault door, Thermite begins its countdown before detonating in a fiery explosion. Keep in mind that it takes some time to fully breach the structure, so aim for the weak points on the vault to speed things up.

While it’s doing its job, stay alert — other players will likely hear the commotion and try to interfere. Be ready to defend your position or make a quick escape once the vault is open and the loot inside becomes accessible.

But breaking into vaults isn’t all Thermite is good for. You can also throw it like a timed explosive. When launched, Thermite doesn’t detonate instantly — it waits a few seconds before going off. Once it explodes, it sends out shrapnel in all directions, dealing damage to any enemies caught in the blast radius.

While it might not be the most powerful weapon in Fortnite, Thermite can definitely turn the tide in tight combat situations. Whether you're trying to clear an opponent from a building or create a distraction during a firefight, Thermite has your back.

And that’s everything you need to know about finding and using Thermite in Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 2. If you're curious about what else is coming this season, check out all the rumored collaborations for the Lawless season.

Fortnite is available to play across multiple platforms, including PC, consoles, and mobile devices — with support for Meta Quest 2 and 3 as well.
