The highly anticipated MindsEye, developed by Build A Rocket Boy, is set to officially launch on June 10, 2025. However, ahead of its release, some players managed to obtain physical copies of the game nearly a week early—prompting a flurry of reactions across social media. One user, X / Twitter’s @MrHazel88, shared images of the physical disc and expressed disappointment in the game’s current state, labeling it a “technical mess.”

In response, the MindsEye team at Build A Rocket Boy took to social media urging fans to hold off on playing until the official release date. The developer emphasized that a significant day-one update will be available at launch, which includes essential improvements aimed at delivering the full experience as intended.
This update, according to the studio, brings “key improvements to ensure MindsEye plays as we intended and to meet all the characters at their best.” They also highlighted the narrative-driven nature of the game, noting that it is “built around twists and emotional moments.” To preserve the intended storytelling impact, Build A Rocket Boy requested that players avoid spoilers and wait until the official release to begin their journey.

This premature leak and the resulting early criticism arrive amid a string of recent challenges for Build A Rocket Boy. Just days prior, co-CEO Mark Gerhard made controversial claims on the official MindsEye Discord server, suggesting that a coordinated effort was underway to damage the reputation of both the game and the studio. He even went so far as to imply that some negative comments were being generated by paid individuals or spam bots—an assertion that sparked surprise and concern among the fanbase.
Compounding matters, the studio recently experienced internal turbulence with the departure of its Chief Legal Officer and Chief Financial Officer just ahead of launch—further fueling uncertainty within the growing community.
