I'm well aware that my Dead Rails class tier list might stir some controversy, but it's all in the spirit of helping you make the best choice. You simply can't go wrong with the Vampire, even after numerous updates, but the Survivalist has surged in popularity recently. However, I'm still disappointed that the Zombie remains underwhelming and can't even drink Snake Oil. What's the deal? Teamwork plays a role, but it's a minor factor here. Remember, the game is about having a blast with friends, not just min-maxing your stats.

It's no surprise that this tier is all about raw power and damage output. The Survivalist and Vampire stand head and shoulders above the rest. Although the Ironclad has its merits, here are the top dogs:

**Name****Cost****Info**
Survivalist75The Survivalist starts with a Tomahawk and becomes more deadly as your health decreases. Even at full health, you deal more damage than others, though this might soon be adjusted. This class excels against tough enemies, delivering punches that other classes can't match.
Vampire75The Vampire is all about speed and aggression. You're faster than a horse or a sprinting zombie, and your melee attacks are devastating—most zombies fall in three hits. Beware of sunlight, as it can burn you, but you spawn with a Vampire Knife that heals you with each hit, making survival about maintaining the offensive.

This tier of the Dead Rails class tier list includes excellent classes, though they may not excel in solo survival. They still pack a punch and come with solid starting gear, but they shine more in team play. In my view, the Ironclad holds the most promise.

**Name****Cost****Info**
Ironclad100The Ironclad arrives fully armored, making you much harder to take down. The downside is a slight speed reduction of about 10%. Not ideal for solo runs, but perfect with a team, especially when wielding shotguns for close-quarters combat.
Cowboy50The Cowboy starts strong with a revolver, ample ammo, and a horse, making early-game battles much easier. This setup also aids in navigating chaotic situations, particularly during Blood Moon nights. With the Game Pass, you can sell the revolver for extra cash to kick off with an even better loadout.
Priest75The Priest brings holy tools to the fight, equipped with Crucifixes and Holy Water that pack a punch against foes. You're immune to lightning, making storms irrelevant. While not suited for solo play, the Priest excels in larger squads, providing crucial support.
Arsonist20The Arsonist thrives in chaos, starting with Molotovs and a significant fire damage boost. Ideal for clearing groups of enemies or towns quickly. Best used in smaller areas where you can control the pace, and a horse enhances the hit-and-run strategy.

These classes are specialists, excelling in specific scenarios. For example, the Doctor is invaluable for its price and support capabilities, though it's not ideal for solo damage output. All three are crucial in group settings.

**Name****Cost****Info**
The Alamo50The Alamo is all about fortification, starting with Sheet Metal, Barbed Wire, and a helmet. Ideal for securing the Train early and turning it into a fortress to fend off enemy waves.
Doctor15The Doctor is your lifeline, equipped with healing supplies and the ability to revive teammates at the cost of half their health. One of the most affordable classes, yet invaluable in group play. Selling bandages and snake oil can give you a $40 boost.
Miner15The Miner is designed for resource gathering and nighttime exploration. With a helmet for light and a Pickaxe that breaks ore quickly, they're perfect for collecting materials, especially new ore types. They also start with Coal.

C Tier Dead Rails Classes

Similar to the previous tier, these classes offer good utility but lack solo value. The Conductor is essential in a five-player team, while the Horse class is more of a novelty than a reliable choice.

**Name****Cost****Info**
Conductor50The Conductor controls the Train, starting with Coal and achieving a top speed of 84 for quick escapes. No melee weapon at spawn makes them vulnerable initially, so they need protection. They no longer take a health hit, making them slightly less fragile.
HorseUnlockable through the Horsing Around gamemodeThe Horse Class turns you into a horse, unlocked during the 2025 April Fools "Horsing Around" event. You have standard horse stats but a large hitbox, making tight spaces challenging. You can ride other players but not the train or other horses.
High Roller50The High Roller earns 1.5x money from bags, allowing for a quick cash boost. However, you're more likely to be struck by lightning during storms, making this a high-risk, high-reward choice.

D Tier Dead Rails Classes

At the bottom of the barrel, the default class offers no perks or drawbacks, perfect for beginners to learn the ropes. The Zombie, on the other hand, remains disappointingly weak.

**Name****Cost****Info**
NoneFreeThe None class is the default, starting with just a shovel and whatever you can scavenge. It's a blank slate for beginners to experiment and find their playstyle before committing to a class.
Zombie75The Zombie can heal by feeding on corpses and slip past enemies, but lacks access to Bandages or Snake Oil. While offering stealth and sustainability, it's currently underpowered and not recommended.

That's all you need to know! I hope this Dead Rails class tier list helps you break records and conquer mobs with ease. Don't forget to use our Dead Rails codes and explore Dead Rails challenges. Stay tuned for what the next update might bring!
