Get ready, Pokémon GO trainers! January's first week is almost over, and the next Spotlight Hour event is just around the corner – this Tuesday! With numerous events already underway, now's the time to stock up on Poké Balls and Berries.

Pokémon GO keeps players engaged with a steady stream of events, including Max Mondays, Community Days, and the weekly Spotlight Hours, each featuring a specific Pokémon with a chance to snag a Shiny. Here's the lowdown on the upcoming event.

Voltorb & Hisuian Voltorb Spotlight Hour

Mark your calendars! The Spotlight Hour runs Tuesday, January 7, 2025, from 6 PM to 7 PM local time. This week's stars are Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb, offering double the Shiny hunting opportunities. Both Pokémon are valuable additions to your team, packing a punch when you need extra damage.

With two Pokémon in the spotlight, prepare for a busy hour. Stock up on Poké Balls, Berries, and Incense to maximize your chances of catching both and potentially securing a Shiny of each. Also, clear some space in your Pokémon storage – you'll be catching a lot!

Voltorb (#100, Kanto Region): This Electric-type Pokémon evolves into Electrode using 50 candies. Catching it yields 3 candies and 100 Stardust. Voltorb boasts a max CP of 1141, with 109 Attack and 111 Defense, making it a useful damage dealer. Remember, it's weak against Ground-type moves (160% damage) and resists Electric, Flying, and Steel-type moves (63% damage). The optimal moveset is Spark and Discharge, delivering 5.81 DPS and 40.62 TDO. Rainy weather boosts its attack. A blue Shiny Voltorb awaits!

Hisuian Voltorb (#100, Kanto Region): Also an Electric-type, Hisuian Voltorb shares Voltorb's stats (max CP 1141, 109 Attack, 111 Defense) and evolution requirements (50 candies for Hisuian Electrode). Catch rewards are the same: 3 candies and 100 Stardust. However, its type matchups differ. It takes increased damage from Bug, Fire, Ice, and Poison-type moves (160% damage), while resisting Grass, Steel, Water, and Electric-type moves (63% and 39% damage respectively). The best moveset is Tackle and Thunderbolt, yielding 5.39 DPS and 37.60 TDO. Partly cloudy and rainy weather enhance its damage output. Look for the black Shiny variant!
