Which Difficulty Setting Should You Choose in Dynasty Warriors Origins?

Author : Ava Apr 17,2025

Dynasty Warriors games, known for their hack-and-slash combat, still demand a certain level of skill from players. Recognizing this, Dynasty Warriors: Origins introduces four difficulty settings, allowing players to customize their gaming experience according to their skill level and desired challenge. As a reboot, this game caters to both new and returning players, who might be wondering which difficulty setting best suits their playstyle.

In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, players have access to four difficulty settings, though initially, only three are available: Historian (easy), Wayfarer (normal), and Hero (hard). The fourth setting, Ultimate Warrior (very hard), unlocks after completing one of the main scenarios for any faction. While there's a Trophy/Achievement for completing a single battle on Ultimate Warrior, there are no difficulty-specific rewards for finishing the entire campaign.

Which Dynasty Warriors: Origins Difficulty Setting is Best?

For those new to the action-adventure genre or focused on enjoying the story, Historian is the ideal choice. Wayfarer strikes a balance and is suitable for most players, even those with limited experience in Musou/Warriors games. Fans of the series might find Hero to be the right challenge at the start, while seasoned Musou masters could consider stepping up to Ultimate Warrior once it's unlocked for a more intense experience as they tackle remaining missions and scenarios.

Players can adjust the difficulty setting between battles via the config menu if they find the game too challenging or too easy, without impacting the story.

Difficulty Mode Differences in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

On Historian, all enemy attacks can be blocked, and it's easier to stagger foes, gain bravery, and fill the Musou Gauge. In contrast, Hero increases enemy strength and aggression, shortens the window for parries and perfect evades, and removes Meat Buns from enemy drops. Blocking reduces bravery, the time to influence battles between allied and enemy forces is reduced, and there's a slight decrease in Skill Points and gold earned. Ultimate Warrior intensifies these changes, making parry and evade windows even tighter and significantly reducing battle earnings.
