inZOI Will No Longer Have Denuvo DRM

The developers behind inZOI have confirmed the removal of Denuvo DRM from their game. Reports surfaced within the last 24 hours revealing that the Creative Studio mode demo contained the controversial anti-tamper software. Denuvo has long been a contentious issue among gamers, primarily due to claims that it impacts game performance.

Designed to combat unauthorized copying and distribution of PC games, Denuvo makes it challenging for individuals to pirate and distribute cracked versions of games.

In a recent Steam blog post dated March 26, inZOI Director Hyungjun 'Kjun' Kim addressed these concerns, stating that the upcoming Early Access build, set for release on Friday, will be free of DRM technology. "We initially implemented Denuvo to safeguard the game against illegal distribution, believing it would maintain fairness for those who purchased the game legitimately. However, upon reviewing community feedback, it became clear that this approach did not meet the expectations of our players," Kjun explained.

Kjun also apologized for failing to inform players about Denuvo's inclusion in the Creative Studio mode. He acknowledged that while removing DRM might increase the risk of the game being cracked and illegally distributed, it would enhance inZOI's configurability, allowing players greater freedom to customize and personalize their gaming experiences. "We believe that enabling this freedom from the outset will foster innovative and sustained enjoyment within our community," he added.

inZOI Being A Highly Moddable Game

The focus on modding is a key aspect of inZOI, which made the inclusion of Denuvo all the more surprising to players, as it typically hinders the ability to add mods and customizations.

Kjun reiterated their commitment to modding, stating, "As highlighted during our Online Showcase, we're dedicated to making inZOI a highly moddable game. Our initial phase of official mod support will launch in May, enabling players to use tools like Maya and Blender for creating custom content. This is just the beginning; we plan to expand mod support further, allowing for extensive customization and enhancement of your gaming experience."

He also mentioned that a separate post would provide more detailed information about modding. Krafton continues to place players first, actively listening to community feedback and making necessary adjustments to ensure a high-quality gaming experience.

inZOI is scheduled for an Early Access release on March 28, 2025, on PC, with a full launch planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The exact date for the full release remains unannounced at this time.
