Elden Ring Nightreign: A Swamp-Free Cooperative Adventure?
From Software's upcoming cooperative title, Elden Ring Nightreign, will notably lack the poisonous swamps frequently featured in their previous games. This revelation comes directly from Yasuhiro Kitao, the project's product manager, during a recent press interview.
While a swamp-like area was depicted in the Elden Ring Nightreign trailer, Kitao clarified it's a distinct location. The absence of the traditional poisonous swamps is attributed to the non-participation of Hidetaka Miyazaki, From Software's president and a known enthusiast of swamp environments in game design. Miyazaki's influence is evident in the swamp locations present in both Elden Ring and the Dark Souls series. However, his absence from Nightreign's development team accounts for this omission.

Interestingly, a two-player mode might still be added. Currently, only one-player and three-player modes have been confirmed, with initial exclusion of a two-player mode cited as a balancing challenge. From Software is currently evaluating the feasibility of incorporating a two-player option, but no decision has been finalized.
Elden Ring Nightreign is slated for release on May 30, 2025, for PC and current and next-generation consoles.
