Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the "leave a message" feature found in previous FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter play sessions. Nightreign matches last approximately forty minutes, leaving insufficient time for players to write or read messages.
"Given the roughly forty-minute session length, there's not enough time to send or read messages, so we disabled the feature," Ishizaki stated.
This choice is notable, considering the significant role messaging has played in past FromSoftware games, enhancing player interaction and enjoyment. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.
To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate narrative. The game offers a new adventure with unique challenges and encounters, while preserving the atmospheric richness and complexity of the Elden Ring world.
