Developer Announces Major Tweaks to REPO's Overcharge and Difficulty Scaling

Author : Nora May 29,2025

The developers behind REPO are making significant adjustments to the game's difficulty scaling, promising an enhanced experience for players. One of the key changes involves the Overcharge mechanic, which has undergone a major overhaul. Initially available from the start, the mechanic will now be introduced at level 10. Moving forward, new difficulty-increasing mechanics will be added every 10 levels (levels 20, 30, etc.), with Overcharge leading the charge as the first of these scaled challenges.

According to Semiwork, these new mechanics will also be integrated into the game's lore, ensuring they serve a purpose beyond mere gameplay tweaks. As the developers mentioned, "It won’t be just a gimmick for no reason. There will be something attached to this and we will share more details in the future."

Overcharge Mechanics Explained

Overcharge allows players to counter enemies by picking them up and throwing them onto hard surfaces or away from their team. However, players must manage an Overcharge meter, which, when filled, results in an explosion. This mechanic adds a strategic layer to combat, encouraging players to use it wisely.

Developer Engagement During Open Beta

During the recent open beta, Semiwork developers, including Pontus Sundstrom, joined random matches to engage with players and gather valuable feedback. Sundstrom expressed his satisfaction with the positive reception of the new features, noting, "I've been asking some questions and finding out what you guys find fun, stuff like that." The developers are committed to enhancing the game based on community input, signaling exciting updates ahead.
